INTRODUCTION
IBD is a chronic inflammatory disease of the GI tract, characterized by repetitive episodes of inflammation of the gastro intestinal tract caused by an abnormal immune response to gut microflorae. It occurs in genetically susceptible individual after an exaggerated immune response to a normal stimulus, such as food, intestinal florae.
CAUSES
IBD is not contagious but the exact cause of IBD remains unknow. It may occur due to
- Alteration in fecal microbiome
- Intestinal inflammation
- Drug induced
- Gut dysbiosis
SYMPTOMS
- Recurrent abdominal pain
- Gas (or) bloating
- Loss of appetite
- Unexplained weight loss
- Diarrhoea or urgent need to poop (pass stool)
NATUROPATHY MANAGEMENT :-
The main aim of Naturopathy management is to
- Reduce inflammation
- Increase healthy gut microbiome

DIET THERAPY
Diet therapy plays a major role in treating IBD
Dietary fibre:
Dietary fibre helps to maintain remission and reduces lesions of the intestinal mucosa during the cause of disease. Dietary fibre which gets converted to SCFA (short chain fatty acid) has immunomodulatory properties, It accelerates healing, regeneration process of the intestinal epithelium and lowers colonic pH there by stimulating the growth of beneficial microflorae and inhibits growth of pathogens.
Beneficial foods include
